WEBSITE CHANGES

We are currently in the process of updating our website. We soon hope to have a brand new website, easier to navigate and with the information we get asked the most. We have taken your suggestions on board and we hope you will be pleased with our efforts.

CONTACTING US

As we are changing our website, we have also removed two email addresses from use temporarily. For sales you can still reach Angelika and Melinda on angiatleh@aol.com or melsales4leh@aol.com. However we have also added this email address: sales@londonelizabethhotel.co.uk.

To reach any of our managers please contact them at either reservations@londonelizabethhotel.co.uk or londonelizabeth@btconnect.com. For Trish Norbury please note her email account is currently unavailable so do not email lehoteltrish@aol.com as she will be unable to receive emails to this address.

Our General Manager, Allegra El-Khazen can still be reached at lehAllegra@aol.com.

SUMMER WEEKEND BBQ's

During the summer guests will be able to enjoy a bbq in the garden.  On Saturdays and Sundays, anytime from 1pm-9pm, enjoy the bbq atmosphere and 'dine out'.

As ever, our fine quality catering is surprisingly reasonably priced.

NEW MENU

The London Elizabeth has a new extended restaurant menu which will be available from Friday 9th May 2008. We hope you will enjoy this! More veetarian options, superb desserts, tried and tested and tested by the staff, and more meat options for meat lovers. Bon Appetit!

FREE WIRELESS BROADBAND INTERNET AT THE LONDON ELIZABETH

Wireless broadband is now permanently available to every guest in every room at the London Elizabeth. Even on the Garden Terrace.  Absolutely free.

CLASSIC BEDROOMS CAN NOW BE AIR-CONDITIONED

London's humidity banished.

Guests can now specify 'air-conditioning' when booking a Classic Bedroom, and enjoy this additional amenity for just a small supplementary charge.

All suites and deluxe bedrooms at the London Elizabeth are already fully air-conditioned, and now this amenity can be extended to our Classic Bedrooms and Family Bedrooms too.

'Air-conditioning' can be added to your reservation at any time, when you book or even after arrival. However availability is limited and allocated in order of request.

A JOURNEY THRU' THE GARDENS

Our new garden layout has been proving extremely popular throughout our unusually warm and sunny summer with tables nestled among the roses to create a truly relaxing atmosphere.  Already softly lit in the evenings, garden heaters have now been added to extend Autumn hours.

The roses have grown exceptionally well this year and continue to flourish, matched by superb sage, chillies and several varieties of wonderful salad leaves.

A guest sent us this photograph of Rosie in the Rose Garden. Rosie loves her occasional visits to the garden, especially if there are children to play with !

IT IS THAT TIME OF YEAR - GET READY FOR THE EASTER BUNNY

The Easter Bunny has come and gone. Once again all children were invited to take part in the Easter Egg Hunt although this time due to unusual weather conditions the hunt took place inside the hotel not in our garden! It was snowing outside!

The Easter Bunny was a huge hit. Thank you to all the children who made the day so enjoyable for all of us at the hotel. It always is such a pleasure to enjoy the fun with the children of all ages.

THE BREAKFAST BUFFET

We are often asked about our breakfast buffet. It is included in all our room rates and is served daily from 7-10 am (Suns 7.30-10.00).

For the healthy appetite the help-yourself buffet includes Chilled Fruit Juices (orange, apple, grapefruit on display, tomato can be ordered), Cereals (Corn Flakes, Muesli, Bran Flakes, Weetabix, Rice Crispies, Shredded Wheat etc), Fresh Fruit Cup (Fresh Orange, Red and Green Apple, Pineapple, Grapes), Seasonal Fruits (melons/cherries), Hard Boiled Eggs, Natural and Fruit Yoghurts. Our Bakery Selection varies daily depending on freshness and availability, and usually includes White and Wholemeal Floury Rolls, Butter Croissants, Chocolate Croissant Rolls, New York Bagels (plain and flavoured), Muffins (Blueberry and Chocolate), French Brioche Rolls, Chocolate Chip Brioche and doughnuts, amongst others.

Breakfast Tea, Herbal Teas, Fresh Brewed Coffee, Decaf, Hot Chocolate and Hot Toast, white or wholemeal, are all available from your server.

For the even healthier appetite, the Great British Breakfast is available from your server for just a £4 supplement. Added to your own selection from the buffet is either the breakfast plate of Bacon, Eggs, Sausages, Mushrooms and Fried Tomato, or you can try the Boiled Eggs and Soldiers !

Either breakfast can also be served in your room or suite (£2 tray charge).

Breakfast is also served to the hundreds of squirrels, swans, geese, ducks, birds, foxes and other wildlife living just a few steps away in Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens. Left-over bakery items, including lots of bread crust and toast, are always available on request for our guests to serve daily.

BUSINESS MATTERS

BOARDROOM BOASTS BROADBAND

The business centre in our Boardroom now offers a complimentary 24 hour fast Broadband web connection.

The centre is always open to all our guests and offers free surfing, emails and data transmission, all at high speed, as well as printing.

FOR THE KING SIZE FAMILY

We now have several classic rooms that have been converted to house a king size bed. Two are family rooms and two are classic twin rooms. Please advise us if you wish to book this option!

There is no rate change for the room, which can be booked as a king for two people, or comfortably for a family with up to 2 children in rollaways.

DRIVING IN LONDON

As of 19th February 2007 the London Elizabeth hotel is now within the London Congestion Zone charge. The cost is £8.00 per day, Monday to Friday from 7am through to 6pm. Please ensure you pay this fee so as not to incur a penalty of £50.00.

The team will gladly assist you in paying this charge. Please ask upon check in.

TRANQUILITY

Each room at the London Elizabeth boasts double or secondary windows specifically to deaden noise -

and we have found they really do make a significant difference. If you are light sleepers we do still recommend that you book a back facing room for the ultimate quiet.

Given our prominent and central location, and the protection given to our historic building, we cannot promise complete silence.

However we know our new windows will improve the country atmosphere of our city-centre hotel.

The only exception to our new windows is in room 225, whose original 1850 arched leaded glass window has bent dramatically with the building's movement over 150 years.

At the rear of the hotel, room 225 is exceptionally quiet.

BEDROOM FACILITIES

We are pleased to advise guests that all rooms and suites contain an in-room personal digital safe.
As we are often asked, all our rooms also have a trouser press, hairdryer, and (unusual for Europe) wash-cloths.
The London Elizabeth has chosen not to install mini-bars to our bedrooms or ice machines on each floor. Ice is always available without charge from our Bar or from Room Service.

THE FAMILY SUITES

As well as providing some of London's most beautiful accommodations, some of our suites can also provide the spaciousness so useful for families. Two of our suites, the Lancaster and the Conservatory now also have a sofabed already in the lounge.

THE GENTLEMAN GHOST AND HIS LADY

On Tuesday, 27 August 2002, at 6.45pm, our extremely inoffensive and perfectly polite, though very shy, hotel ghost made his first recorded appearance since June 23 2000.

An American guest, a single lady traveller, has told us she passed him in an area leading to the ladies restrooms on our ground floor level. As she passed him she said "Good evening". He walked on but did not reply. Our guest thought him a little odd and she turned back towards him again - but he was gone ! In reporting the incident our guest correctly described the appearance of our ghost.

We regret that we have been unable to discover any certain history related to our ghost, though we know from Lord Janner of a possible connection. He has only ever appeared very briefly to either staff member or guest, always in a corridor and always entirely innocuously. Unless you are expecting to see him you may never notice; but if you do, you will immediately know it is him.

For the very first time a guest has experienced the presence of a lady in one of our halls. Although we do not yet have any corroberation of this experience, it is extraordinary that this guest has an artistic tendency, and has kindly drawn an exceptional image of the lady whose presence she 'felt'.

What makes this drawing so exceptional is that she drew her lady dressed in exactly the same style of clothes as worn by our gentleman ghost and seen by many over decades. We never reveal his appearance, now known only to myself and those who have seen him. How could she know..........

STAFF MATTERS

Every month the management team meet to select an Employee of the Month. This is never an easy decision to be made, nor is it easy to achieve the status of Employee of the Month. This is even tougher for Employee of the Year.

We were delighted to congratulate this year's very popular winner,  Melinda. This is Melinda's first time in achieving Employee of the Year! We were all absolutely delighted, as was she, to win this award. Huge congratulations Melinda!

Congratulations to our 2007 Employee of the Year, Melinda.

Congratulations to our 2006 Employee of the Year, Olivia.

Congratulations to our 2005 Employee of the Year, Vivienne

Congratulations to our 2004 Employee of the Year, Angelika.
Congratulations to our 2003 Employee of the Year, Angelika.
Congratulations to our 2002 Employee of the Year, Karol.

Our staff have always been of a number of different nationalities and bring to us a wonderful variety of cultures from around the world. Between us we speak English (by all), French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Greek, Arabic, Mongolian, Polish, Finish and Hungarian - of course these are just the fluent languages - at certain times of the day we can cope well with Japanese, Russian and even Irish !

Congratulations to Angelika and Karol on their wedding the 4th June 2005, in Poland. A wonderful time was enjoyed by everyone attending, and to be honest, an awful lot of vodka was consumed. They are certainly not the first couple at the London Elizabeth to be married, but they and their children have become a part of our family.

It is a measure of the affection in which they are held that three hotel guests and countless past and present staff members made the trip to Poland to attend the wedding.
